Comparison
HelpHQ vs Zendesk
Zendesk is the incumbent in customer service software and runs support for some very large companies. That is exactly why it is usually the wrong choice for a small Shopify store.

| Entry price | $0, then $19/mo | $19/agent/mo (ticketing only) |

Zendesk prices on annual billing, checked in 2026. Monthly billing costs more and Zendesk does not publish that rate.
The seat problem
Zendesk charges per agent. Support Team is $19 per agent per month for ticketing only; Suite Team, which adds messaging and a help centre, is $55 per agent per month on annual billing.
For a solo merchant that is competitive. The moment a second person helps out during a busy week, it doubles. Per-seat pricing charges you for having colleagues, which is a strange thing to tax at a five-person company. HelpHQ costs the same whether one person answers tickets or everyone does.
The add-on stack
The seat price is the floor rather than the bill. Copilot is around $50 per agent per month on top, with quality assurance and workforce management as further per-agent add-ons, and AI resolutions metered separately. Stacked, a Suite Professional seat can approach triple its base price.
None of that is hidden — it is on their pricing page. It is simply built for organisations with a procurement process, not for someone deciding between this and a spreadsheet on a Tuesday evening.
Where Zendesk genuinely wins
If you have a real support organisation — shift schedules, quality review, workforce planning, tickets routed by skill, several brands under one roof — Zendesk does all of it and we do none of it. It is also the safer choice if you need certifications and procurement paperwork.
It is not built for ecommerce specifically. Order context comes through an integration rather than being the centre of the product, which is the opposite of how HelpHQ is arranged.
The honest summary
Zendesk is a platform. HelpHQ is a tool. If support is a department you manage, you want a platform. If support is something you do between packing orders, a platform is overhead you will pay for and not use.
Unlimited people, one price
Everyone with Shopify admin access can answer tickets. There is no seat count to manage.
