HelpHQ vs Reamaze

Reamaze has served ecommerce merchants for years and covers far more ground than we do — live chat, social, SMS, voice, chatbots, an AI agent. The question is whether you need any of it, and what it costs once more than one person is answering.

The seat question

Reamaze charges per team member: $29 each on Basic, $49 on Pro, $69 on Plus. For a solo merchant that is close enough to our $19 that price should not be what decides it.

It stops being close the moment a second person helps out.

2$19/mo$58/mo$39
3$19/mo$87/mo$68
5$19/mo$145/mo$126
Monthly billing. Reamaze Pro and Plus are $49 and $69 per member, so the gap widens on higher tiers.

The awkward part of per-seat pricing at small scale is not the arithmetic, it is the behaviour it encourages. You end up sharing one login so you do not pay for a second seat, which quietly removes the thing you were paying for — knowing who replied to whom. HelpHQ costs the same whether one person answers or everyone with Shopify admin access does.

Their flat plan, and its catch

Reamaze does offer a flat option: Starter at $59 a month for unlimited team members with Basic features. That solves the seat problem.

It introduces a different one. Starter is capped at 500 responded conversations a month — a volume limit, which is the structure that bites hardest in the month a shipment goes wrong and everyone writes in at once. It is also three times our price for a plan positioned at stores that are just starting up.

Breadth against depth

Reamaze is multichannel by design: email, live chat, social, SMS, voice, chatbots and proactive messaging in one application. If customers reach you in five different places, consolidating them is genuinely valuable and Reamaze does it well.

HelpHQ handles two: your contact form and email. That is a deliberate limit rather than a roadmap gap. Most small stores get almost all their support through those two channels, and paying for channels you do not use is the most common way support software gets expensive.

Living inside Shopify

The clearest structural difference is where the work happens. Reamaze is its own application with a Shopify integration. HelpHQ is a Shopify app — same admin as your orders, same login, order data read live rather than synced.

That cuts both ways. If you sell somewhere other than Shopify as well, a standalone helpdesk that treats every channel and platform equally is the better architecture, and HelpHQ would be the wrong tool.

On live chat

Worth naming, since it is the biggest single gap. We have not built a chat widget and are not convinced most small stores should have one. Chat sets an expectation of an immediate answer that a merchant packing orders cannot meet, and an unanswered chat reads worse than a contact form nobody promised to answer instantly.

If you are staffed for live chat, that reasoning does not apply to you and Reamaze is the better fit. Cues and Peek in particular have no equivalent here and are not planned.

What we do not have

Being specific is more useful than a feature table implying parity. Compared with Reamaze, HelpHQ has no live chat, no social or SMS channels, no voice, no chatbots, no AI agent, no proactive messaging, no live visitor view, no staff shift management, and no customer satisfaction ratings.

If two or more of those matter to you, Reamaze is the better product and we would rather you knew now than found out after installing.

Who should pick which

  • Reamaze if you need live chat, social channels, SMS or voice; if you run several brands; or if you sell somewhere other than Shopify as well.
  • HelpHQ if support arrives by form and email, you are Shopify-only, more than one person answers, and you would rather not manage a second application.

Fewer channels, one price

Free for 50 tickets a month, then $19 flat however many people answer. Enough to find out whether form and email cover your support.
